I'm kind of hoping this issue doesn't last throughout the book, but while I don't really have any major problems with events or content in this book so far, I do have one significant problem with the narrative in general at this point.
Telling. So far this book is all telling. No showing. I can barely feel any true sense of intimacy with the characters so far.
Hopefully it changes as it goes along, but I hope the rest of the narrative isn't like this, because it is shortchanging the story it's trying to tell.
That and the fact that there's a bit too much emphasis on the mention that the characters aren't with "fucked up" pasts. The heroine's bipolar. The hero tried a relationship with the heroine after spending most of their lives together and it didn't go well.
